New Bell Memorial Dedicated

The Frenchburg Presbyterian School was established in 1909 by the Women’s General Missionary Society of the United Presbyterian Church of North America. Its purpose was not only to teach how to read, write, and do arithmetic, but also to offer young people a firm foundation in the Lord for the direction of their lives. In addition to classroom learning, students witnessed examples of Christian living in the teachers and administrators. All of us who attended this school were touched. We are filled with joy, remembering what this school stood for as we dedicate our old dining hall bell, which is now supported in a structure of brick. We pray that by the example of our lives, our children and their children will have a sense of reverence for the Frenchburg United Presbyterian School. To this end we dedicate this bell and its structure. Just as stones were used in the Old Testament to remind the people of God’s work on their behalf (Joshua 4:4-7), these stones surrounding the bell remind us of how this school was used to do the work of God and to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
