Reminiscences

Some pictures from years gone by!
Contributed by Bill and DeLores Hovermale
(scroll down for the new content from Willard Becraft.)

They write:

We found some old pictures of FHS teachers and the old teachers' home and thought you may like them for the alumni net.  These photos are old, so hope they arrive so that you can tell what they are.

These are from Bill's Mom's photo album (Meda Hovermale).   We know who some of the teachers are.  They were still there in 1957.  Also, since Bill grew up around the hospital and on the campus, he knows more of them than I do.

The little boy in the back of the picnic photo is Bill when he was about 5 or 6 years old.  That's his Dad Martin in the back of Miss Hesselink.  We have some others of the old hospital, but do not know the folks in them.

Hope you can use these.

Thank you, Bill and DeLores!

Webmaster's note: You'll notice on the chronology of Teachers and Staff that Bill grew up on the Frenchburg campus, because his parents, Martin and Meda Hovermale served on the staff there between 1933 and 1950.

If you click on the second thumbnail (above) you will see a larger picture of the school staff of about 1940-41. And the staff is identified as best I and my sister-in-law Virginia Williams Becraft, '40, can remember.  —Willard Becraft (Class of 1943)
